Negombo

Welcome to the neighbourhood

When you’re looking out your window, you’re looking at the fourth largest city in Sri Lanka, and quite possibly the most popular coastal stopover in the island. Located in close proximity to the Bandaranaike International Airport, our hometown has always been a harmony of colourful history, urban lifestyles, and commercial activity.

Explore Negombo beyond the beach strip, and discover the variety of places to visit on your travels here. From the Lellama, our famous local seafood market born out of our original repute as a humble fishing village, to the many churches and cathedrals that are scattered across the area – which have incidentally, earned Negombo the nickname of ‘Little Rome’. Ironically, while they remain a legacy of the colonial Portuguese, the colonial Dutch also left behind a 17th century fort which now serves as the city prison.
